Eileen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the College of Mount St. Vincent as well as Master of Science and Master of Public Health degrees respectively in Epidemiology and Behavioral Health Sciences and Health Promotion. Eileen is board certified in Occupational Health Nursing and is past President of the Connecticut State Occupational Health Nurses Association. She is an elected member of the Council of Nurse leaders in Business and Health and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is a past recipient of the Medique Grant for Leadership in Occupational Health Nursing and the 2013 NEAOHN Conference Grant for the comprehensive health promotion program she helped to develop and implement for Pitney Bowes’ telecommuting employees.

He is a winner of the American College of Emergency Physicians “National Teaching Faculty Award” and the Yale Emergency Medicine “Outstanding Teaching” Award. He has served as Chair of the American Association of Poison Control Centers’ Council of Medical Directors, has been elected to two terms on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT) and serves as a member of the Advanced Hazmat Life Support Scientific Advisory Committee. Dr. Tomassoni has special training and experience in Disaster Medicine, EMS, hyperbaric and tactical medicine and has served as a flight physician. FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Massachusetts Task Force 1 Tony was deployed to the World Trade Center collapse on September 11, 2001. He currently serves as a Medical Officer with CT DMAT.
In addition to his work at NEBH, Dr. Van Flandern holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine and as a Faculty Lecturer at Harvard University Medical School.
Dr. Van Flandern has published numerous works of 01thopedic literature and has traveled widely as a lecturer. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and earned his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed both his general surgery and orthopedic surgery residencies at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, and completed the Otto E. AuFranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital.
After completing his Fellowship in Boston, Dr. Van Flandern practiced in Cincinnati, Ohio for three years. He returned to the Boston area in 1998, when he joined Longwood Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Van Flandern is married and the father of four children. In his spare are time he enjoys golf, triathlon competition and spending time with his family.
Van Flandern specializes in joint replacement surgery of the knee and hip as well as anterior hip replacement and hip arthroscopy.
